Riparian Buffer Systems Training Program Offered To Managers

offered by Maryland Cooperative
Extension with funding from the
Northeast Region Sustainable
Agriculture Research and Educa
tion (SARE) Program.
The two-day program for fores
ters, wildlife biologists. Extension
educators, engineers, planners and
others who work with landowners

Horse Shows are among the
few shows that encourage
western riders to compete
against hunters in pleasure
classes. On Sunday, July 12, at
Grazing Acres, western horses
not only competed but con
quered.
Imperial Mandan, the west
ern champion, and Country
Velvet, the reserve champion
in the western division, went
on to lake the champion and re
serve awards, respectively, in
the pleasure division. (Since
cash prizes are presented in
pleasure, this is always a good
division in which to win.) Tam

ridden by Janet Johnson of
Coatesville.

names, but different spellings,
were also high point winners.

Lincoln University, was the be
ginner over fences champion
on Fudge. Sara Shaffer of West
Grove rode Low Down Louie
to a reserve hunter champion
ship.

hours of core training sessions
will be delivered via satellite from
the University of Maryland, Col
lege Park, on the first morning.
These sessions will focus on the
basic structure and ecology of ri
parian forest buffers and will fea
ture experts from various federal
and state agencies and universities
nationwide. They will be followed
