Virginia Cattlemen Visit Pennsylvania
SCHOENECK (Lancaster Co.) A group of 60 Virginia Cattlemen, extension
agents, and industry representatives visited eight beef operations and New Holland
Sales auction in Southeast Pennsylvania this week. Hank Marcey, the Virginia associ
ation president, said the trip was designed to see where Virginia cattle are going and
how they are being fed. ,
“It’s more of a customer service trip,” Marcey said. “We want to see If our feeder
cattle programs are meeting the needs of our customers up here.
“What we have found Is that the people here are wonderful and more than willing to
work with us. And their facilities are Immaculate. Most of them have been pleased with
the cattle they get from us. The kind of cattle that we are breeding to work on grass
also seems to be working In the feed lots for market up here.”
Reggie Reynolds, executive secretary, said the assocation represents 18 different
local associations and coordinates the efforts to market and promote Virginia cattle.
