4-Year-Old Wins Lancaster County

Co.) A 4-year-old Holstein, C
Wridalc Broker Clover, owned by
Sandra Frey Thomas of Lancaster,
on Thursday was named grand
champion of the Lancaster County
Black & White Holstein Show,
held at the Solanco Fairgrounds in
Quatryville.
Judge for the show was Steve
Shaw, of Williamsburg, Pa.
There were 132 entries for the
show, and although there were
some no-shows, the size of the
show was about the same if not
slightly larger than most years.
Judge Shaw was full of praise for
the quality of animals.
He especially remarked about
the quality of the champions, a
large frame dry cow (Pennwood
Inspiration Kween, owned by Ash
ley Stoltzfus of Morgantown) that
he said had everything except a
fresh udder that kept her from win
ning. He also praised a pair of

The P. Robert Wenger family are named premier breeder
and exhibitor of the Lancaster County Holstein Show. Rep
resenting the family here are, from the left standing, Greg

Pennsylvania Ayrshire Princess Susan Richardson, and
Julie (Wenger) Stauffer. Missing from the photo are

Wenger showed the reserve
grand and reserve senior champion
of the open division, a senior
3-year-old, Wcngdales Jed Chari
ty, also the best bred and owned
animal of the open division.
The Wenger family also
received the premimer breeder and
exhibitor award for the show, a
second consecutive honor for the
family. They exhibited eight cows
and two heifers in the show.
Melonica Kauffman, of Lancas
ter, exhibited the junior champion
Holstein of both the open division
and the youth division shows, a
winter calf, Trout-Spring-M Milan
Daria.
The reserve junior champion of
the open division show was shown
by Melonica’s father, Dennis G.
Kauffman, owner of Trout-Spring
Farm in Lancaster. His reserve
champion was a fall calf, Trout-
Spring-K Encour Xya.
In the youth division, the senior
and grand champion was a senior
2-ycar-old, MS LovDal Skybuck
Elvira, owned by Benjamin Welk,
of Quanyville. The day prior,
Welk had shown the animal to win
the grand championship of the
Lancaster County 4-H Holstein
show.
The youth division reserve
senior and reserve grand champion
was a senior 3-ycar-old, C Comes
tar Senata Starbuck-ET, also own
ed by Melonica Kauffman.
The reserve junior champion of
the youth division was a spring
yearling, Fultonway Highlite Star,
owned by Ashley Frey, of
Lancaster.
The Lancaster County Black &
White show also features a 3-year-
old futurity class. The winner was
Donegal Creek Cad Emily-Red,
bred and owned by Joseph Wivell
of Columbia. He also had the sec
ond place animal., while Michael
Bollinger showed the third place
entiy.
