Followiong a threatening wind
and thunderstorm the sun emerged
from behind the clouds to create a
perfect evening for the annual
agricultural parade. The parade is
held in conjunction with the Mar
tinsburg July 4th activities.
For nearly two hours farm
equipment both antique and new,
clowns, bands, majorette groups,
llamas, horses, pony carts, floats
with various local queens and
princesses, and fire trucks paraded
along the street from Ritchey’s
Dairy to the Johnson Memorial
Park.

Granddaddy Craft Fair
Opens For 52nd Year

It’s the granddaddy of Pennsyl
vania’s craft fairs! The S2nd An
nual State Craft Fair will be held
from July 23-26 in the air condi
tioned Alumni Sports and Fitness
Center at Franklin and Marshall
College in Lancaster. The fair,
which will showcase more than
27S juried members of the Penn
sylvania Guild of Craftsmen, is a

Calvin and Thelma Baker of Wil
liamsburg RD 2.
Thelma and Calvin fanned for
34 years and have both been active
in the community.
Calvin has served as the Huston
Township Republican committee
man since 1952 and had previous
ly assisted In the Hollidaysburg
district office of State Rep. Jerry
Stem. He has served as a director
for Memorial Park for approxi-
mix of traditional and contempor
ary crafts that include jewelry,
iron work, leather, wood, pottery,
papercutting, clothing, baskets
and more. The fair also features
music, craft demonstrations and
exhibits. The demonstrations in
clude woodcarving, calligraphy,
carousel horse carving, basket
making, > dollmarking and many
more.

Thelma, who helped run the
Baker farm, has won numerous
awards for her cooking, baking,
and quilting. She served six years
on the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau
State Ladies Committee and 16
years as majority inspector of
Huston Township Election Board,
She is a member of the Williams
burg Civic Club, Morrisons Cove
Republican Club, and the Scotch
Valley Grange and has been a
member of the Morrisons Cove
Home Auxiliary for the past 25
years.
This year’s fair will also feature
a special gallery exhibit. “Fiber
forms,” which will showcase
crafts that are created with the
many forms of fiber. The fair will
also feature live music and a
hands-on children’s activity.
Hours for the fair are 10 a.m. to 6
p.m. Thursday, Friday and Satur
day and 10 ajn. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Admission is $6. children 12 and
under are free.
