    NORTH CORNWALL (Leba
non Co.) The organizers of the
Lebanon Area Fair, one of the
state's largest county fairs, have
announced highlights of its 42nd
event, set to be held July 25
through August 1 at the Lebanon
Expo Center in Lebanon.
The Lebanon Area Fair is a vol
unteer effort to benefit the county
4-H and FFA youth programs.
Parking is free during the fair,
though a $2 admission fee is
charged per person aged 12 years
and older, except on July 26 and
August 1.
Youth division and open divi
sion (open to all producers, regard
less of age) livestock shows are
held throughout the week, and ani
mals exhibited in shows are on dis
play, as well as are other animals in
associated educational displays
the North Mountain Petting Zoo is
to be open all week and offer pony
rides in the evenings.

Lebanon Area Fair Set For July 25-August 1
Starting at 9 a.m., July 25 is the
4-H horse show, followed by an
open division rabbit and cavy
show at 10 a.m., and the poultry
show at 1 p.m.
Scheduled to start at7:3op.m. is
a sale of meat pens of rabbits.
But the day has a full schedule
of non-agricultural activities

run, a volksmarch, the fair queen
contest (at 5 p.m. followed by a
cake sale), a four-wheel drive
truck pulling contest, a modified
tractor pulling contest, and an anti
que and classic tractor pulling
contest.
Every day there is musical and
magical entertainment, a Bengal
tiger show, Zoo America presenta
tions, and on some days there are
such activities as country line
dancing, karaoke, and special
theme events and foods.

and cavy show at noon, and a 4-H
dog and pet show at 4 p.m.
A swine show is scheduled for
8:30 a.m., Monday, July 27. At 9
a an. is a dairy youth showmanship
and clip-out contest, and a youth
breeding sheep show at 6 p.m.
Tuesday is youth dairy day. The
open and youth division dairy
shows start at 8:30 a.m. for those
showing Ayrshires, Brown Swiss,
Guernseys and Jerseys. The youth
Holstein show begins at 9 a.m.
Later, at 7:30 pan., is the selec
tion of the supreme champion of
all the youth dairy shows, as well
as the selection of the best bred and
owned dairy animal of the youth.
Both selections are high honors
and carry additional awards.
But Tuesday is also beef cattle
day with the beef show set to be
held at 2:30 p.m.
Also set for Tuesday is a sheep
to shawl demonstration and a lawn

and garden tractor pull.
On Wednesday, at 9 a.m. a
youth tractor driving contest is
scheduled, followed by a beef
blocking contest at 1 pan.
In addition to the other events and
displays, a super stock tractor pull
ing contest is set to be held at 7:30
p.m..
OnThursday a youth dairy judg
ing contest is scheduled to be held
at 10 a.m.
Later, at 6 p.m., the youth mark
et lamb show is scheduled, while at
the same time a 4-H benefit auc
tion is set
On Friday, the county Holstein
show is scheduled to be held start
ing at 9 a.m. One of the larger
Holstein shows, especially for a
county show, many of the area’s
well-known breeders exhibit some
of their premier show cattle at the
county show as part of their annual
showing schedule.

judging contest, and at 6 p.m. is a
youth livestock auction, including
the sale of champions and the pre
sentation of special awards.
While the entertainment events
and educational displays continue
through to Saturday evening, the
judging shows are finished with
the end of the Holstein show,
which usually lasts into mid
aftemoon.
Of course the quality and spe
cialness of the food is one of the
aspects of the Lebanon Area Fair
that continues to attract and keep
attendance strong, though not
crowded.
In addition to several mid-way
food booths, the fair holds two spe
cial dinner sales during the
week a ham barbeque dinner is
to be offered from 11:30 a.m. to 2
p.m. Sunday, July 26, for $6.50
each; a chicken barbeque dinner is
to be sold from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m.

covers the cost of the
events and activities
offered by the fair. For
some of the additional
events held in associa
tion with the fair, but not
by the fair, there are
additional charges.
The truck and tractor
pulling contests set to be
held July 25, July 29 and
July 31 cost $6 to attend.
They are held at a track
area at the rear of the
fairgrounds that has a
separate gate.
Also held there is a
demolition derby held
after the fair on August
1 at $8 each admission.
A track event pass is
available for $3O that
permits attendance at all
of the track events. They
can be purchased in
advance at the fair man
agers station.
The Lebanon Area
Fair is held on the Leba
non Expo grounds at
Evergreen and Cornwall
roads in North Cornwall
Township. Directional
signs are usually posted
along Rt 72, south of
the city of Lebanon.
