Rookie of the Year The PA DHIA Rookie of the Year award was established to honor new technicians who have shown exceptional aptitude in learning the job of a PA DHIA edgement: Randy Mayes with 20 years of service. Years of Service acknowl edgement: Paul Martin with 20 years of service. Years of Service acl edgement: Leonard with 35 years of servh Technician. These individuals must have worked at least six and no mote than 18 months and have demonstrated outstanding co operation with the state and local DHIA associations in conducting an efficient and accurate testing program. This award consisted of a jacket There are two categories for this award; one for full-time employees and the other is for part-time employees. This year’s award for full-time employees went to Richard Bedford, Brad ford County. The award for part time employees went to Ginger Bowman of Bedford County. Putnam Memorial Award The Putnam Memorial Award was initiated in 1983 in honor of Dexter N. Putnam for his contri butions to PA DHIA. Mr. Putnam was an extension dairyman from 1957 until his retirement in 1982. Dexter’s dairy extension responsi bilities included working with DHIA technicians to improve their accuracy in reporting data on DHIA forms. This award is given annually to the technician who commits the fewest errors per 1,000 cows tested. Technicians may only win this award once. Years of Service acknowl edgement: Jay Rlsserwtth 45 years of service to PA DHIA. In recognition of his years of ser vice he was given a grand Nittany Lion statue engraved with his name.
