CATTLE: Compared to last week's
closing prices, slaughter steers sold 1.00-
2.00 lower. Slaughter heifers were 1.00
lower in a very light test The week after
July 4th is typically a poor one for the beef
business. This week was no exception and
the movement of boneless beef was espe
cially light. By Friday morning. Western
feedlots had still failed to move the bulk of
this week's showlist with only a few sales
at mostly 61.00. Local Holstein steer prices
closed 1.00 lower, after holding steady
until late in the week. The slaughter cow
market was steady to 1.00 lower and
slaughter bulls ended mostly 1.00 lower.
This week's supply included 54 percent
