Amanda Sollenberger Reigns In Blair County
CURRYVILLE (Blair Co.) - '
Seventeen-year-old Amanda
Sollenberger, daughter of Gerald
and Jean Sollenberger of
Curryville, was crowned at the
1998-99 Blair County Dairy
Princess recently at the Logan
Valley Mall, Altoona.
Sollenberger will be assisted in
her reign by alternate Heather
Brennamen, 16-year-old daugh
ter of Kenneth and Elizabeth
Brennamen of Williamsburg.
The pageant was held on the
center stage of the Logan Valley
Mall in front of a crowd of 175
people. State Representative
Jerry Stem was the master of
ceremonies for the evening.
Each contestant presented an
original skit promoting milk and
dairy products to the crowd.
Before the pageant began the
contestants each had an inter
view with the three judges.
Amanda Sollenberger’s pre
sentation was a delightful ver
sion of the “Tooth Fairy” warn
ing against poor nutrition and
presenting the benefits of milk
and dairy products to children’s
teeth as well as their overall
health. Amanda will be a senior

fall where she is enrolled in the
English honors classes, agricul
ture and the college preparatory
track. She is active in the
Drama Club and Drama Troupe,
public speaking, track and Cross
Country, yearbook sports editor
and the Science Club. Outside of
school she is active in her
church, is activities leader of the
Morrisons Cove 4-H Dairy Club
and enjoys reading, writing,
roller blading and music.
Amanda’s parents own
Sollenberger Farms in partner
ship with her uncle. The farm
milks 160 head of Holsteins and
farms 350 acres in the heat of
Morrisons Cove.
Heather Brennamen por
trayed a dairy princess with her
cow to tell school aged children
the story of milk from the cow to
the dinner table. Heather will be
a sophomore at Williamsburg
High School in the fall. She is
active in her 4-H Horse Club
and enjoys being outdoors and
working with animals.
Heather’s parents are in part
nership with her uncle and aunt
as owners of Brennamen
