me plan for all of my promotions,
chaperoned when needed, and
supported me in all that I have
done this past year, thank you
also. You all mean the world to
me.
To the local and farm papers
that have printed my articles,
thank you. To all of the schools
that have allowed us to share with
their students, thank you. To the
stores that we have “invaded,” es
pecially Ard’s and Boscov’s,
thank you. To Big Country, and
Wheels Radio, thank you. And
finally to all of the groups, both
farm and non-farm, that we have
spoken to, thank you for giving us
a chance.
More than anything the group
of people that I have to thank are
all of the area dairy farmers. With
out you there would be no dairy
princess program, and there would
be no opportunities like this for
young ladies who care for your in
dustry. With your help we learn to
be the best we can, and realize our
abilities. Thank you for allowing
us to shine.
Although my reign as princess
will soon come to a close, I will
still hold the dairy industry very
close to my heart. I am sad that I
must end such a fun and educa
tional year, but I am glad that I
will be passing on this honor to
another deserving young lady on
June 13, and I hope that she too,
will find the joy that I have.
Thank you all, for giving me a
chance.

whole year to milk promotion.
Through various turns of events, I
changed my mind and decided
that maybe I could be a repre
sentative for the dairy industry, try
to do a good job and have fun too.
It has been a very rewarding ex
perience and one that I am glad
that I did not pass up. When small
children, and even some adults ask
why they should drink their milk,
and you can tell them exactly why
and what nutrition they get from
drinking milk, then they look at
you as if nobody ever told them
before, it is all worth my time.
I feel very honored to have been
the spokesperson for the Beaver-
Lawrence County area this past
year. I have met an enormous
amount of people, from the very
young to the senior citizens at
Grange meetings and dinners.
This has just been a tremendous
year of learning and serving my
community in a very different
way.
lire real reason for this letter is
to encourage any young lady with
even the slightest interest in get
ting involved to do so. You won’t
regret it ever. I have overcome
public speaking jitters, speaking
to people I don’t know, and I
learned to make lots of new
friends. 1 have fellow dairy prin
cess friends all over the state, and
best of all you get to see them
more than just once during your
reign.
As a dairy princess you become
a role model and someone for the
little children to look up to. Per
sonally I think they are the best
part because they aren’t afraid to
ask you anything. And they do.
Our county “Tea” has already
taken place but any girl age 16 to
24 is still eligible to run. Your
County Extension would probably
be able to put you in touch with
someone in your county.
I think it would be a tremendous

finally borrowed a purple shirt

as a souvenir of the day her dream
came true.
Recently, Amy broke into tears
again as she loaded April, who
earlier this year was named both
All-American and Junior All-
American Spring Yearling Heifer,
into a cattle trailer. Due June 1,
April was moved to Em-Tran in
Elizabethtown for calving. Shir

productive facility as a vet techni
cian/lab assistant, keeps a close
eye on the mother-to-be during
her work days.
