READING (Berks Co.) —“The
City of Reading is the Pretzel Capi
tol of the world,” said Ruth Wal
ters, Berks County Farm Women
president.
For this reason, the Berks Socie
ty of Farm Women, which hosted
the annual Pennsylvania Society of
Farm Women on Tuesday at the
Riveredge Restaurant, thought it
appropriate to have as its theme:
“Mind, Body, Soul Entertwined
Like A Pretzel That Keeps Us
Whole.” About 600 members of
the statewide group met for its
annual spring rally.
Dr. Leo Frangipane, surgeon at
The Reading Hospital, reinforced
the concept that mind and soul
have a lot to do with the healing of
the body. In his talk, “Live, Love,
Laugh, and Leant,” Frangipane
recounted numerous anecdotes in
his work with cancer patients to
examine why some survive years
longer than expected.
Some of his “secrets to life”

something you like. You’ll get old
when you stop doing what you like.
• Bring who you are to your job.
He said this in reference to statis
