—Total stocks of potatoes stored
in Pennsylvania on April 1, 1998
were 380,000 cwt, 7 percent leu
than a year ago, according to the
Pennsylvania Agricultural Statis
tics Service.
Of this amount, 323,000 cwt
were stored in processor’s facili
ties, 85 percent of die total stocks.
Stocks are defined u the quan
tity (whether sold or not) remain
ing in storage for all purposes and
uses, including seed potatoes not
yet moved and shrinkage, waste
and other losses that occur after
the date of each report. Stocks
may also include potatoes pro
duced in other states.
Sales of fall potatoes for all pur
