slaughter steers sold firm, instances

higher Nearly half of the steer supply
was high Choice and Prime, which made
comparison difficult Trade was active
and demand was good for the fancy
types with prices 'climbing higher'than
in recent weeks. Slaughter heifers
wete not well tested. Slaughter cows
sold mostly steady with some weakness

vealers sold steady to firm Trading was
moderately active for calves returning to
the farm. Holstein bull calves sold
steady. Demand was lighter this week
for Holstein heifers as prices ranged
30.00-40.00 lower. This week’s offering
included 487 head in the State graded
sale and over 95 percent returned to the
farm

CATTLE: Compared to Tuesday,
slaughter steer prices were JO to mostly
1.00 higher. The highest quotes were
marked early in the auction, with sales
opening up very active. Slaughter heifcis
were not well tested. Slaughter cow prices
were uneven, Cannes and Cutter sales were
steady to weak and the Utility and Com
mercial cows were JO to 1.00 higher.
Slaughter bulls were mostly 1.00 lower.
This week's supply consisted of SO percent
slaughter steeis and 29 percent slaughter
cows.

all classes of farm calves. Slaughter calves
sold steady to 5.00 higher. Holstein bull

offer. Over 95 percent returned to feed.
