Whole egg prices were mixed, but most
ly higher, and the balance of prices were
unchanged. The market tone was steady to
instances firm. Demand was light to fair,
and generally for immediate needs only.
Floor stocks were adequate. Liquid and
frozen eggs (ingredients included) pro
cessed under federal inspection for the
week ending March 7, 1998 in the Eastern
Region were 3% more than the week
before, and 4% more than the same week
last year.

Movement of rcady-to-cook whole birds
remained seasonally light to fair in most
quarters. Seller offerings were fully suffi
cient for current inquiry, live supplies
were mostly moderate; weights varied, but
were mostly desirable to heavy. Processing
schedules were moderate to moderately
heavy. Less than trucklot asking prices
were unchanged at S 2 to 66 cents. Trade
sentiment was steady to fully steady. In the
parts complex, breast items were adequate

excess at .several points. Wings remained
in generally good balance.
