8:30 to 9:30 am at the Ag Arana
Penn State University, State College
A sklllathon Is an excellent opportunity for Junior cattlemen to become Involved In challenging
loam-by-doing activities. The competition will incorporate project skills and industry basics In a
series of mlnl-leamlng stations with a facilitator at each station The station facilitators will
allow participants to test their own knowledge and abilities in areas such as identification of
beef broods, retell cuts, food Ingredients, quality assurance practices, food safety, EPD
evaluations, and management decision making. Each participant will have approximately 5 to
10 minutes at each station where he/she will be tested by multiple choice, matching, or one on
one communication with the station facilitator.. The entire contest will take about 35 to 40
minutes to complete. This contest Is a great way to test your beet Industry knowledge and
team Important skills needed to be a successful cattle person
1. To provide a learning lab which will enhance knowledge of the beet Industry.
2. To practice making decisions and speaking before others.
3. To provide a teaming experience that Is enjoyable.
1. Individuals must be a Pennsylvania Junior Cattlemen's Association Member
OR a 1998 Pennsylvania Beef Expo Junior Exhibitor.
Note: 4-H and FFA members are Invited to Join the PJCA for a registration fee of $l.
This membership fee may be paid at the time of contest registration.
2. Registration will require name, address, and blrthdate. Social security numbers will be
needed tor Individual division winners.
3. Each exhibitor may compete ONE time.
4. Team members must register at the same time and compete simultaneously.
5. Schools, clubs', and counties entering more than one team must also register and compete
simultaneously

Please send in registration by March 20,1098. See enclosed registration
sheet. Fill tree to duplicate registration information. Phoned in registrations are
also welcome and encouraged. Registration sheets are only needed at the
contest site.
