Naylor Receives Jurchak Extension Award

Audrey Naylor began her asso
ciation with cooperative extension
more than 30 years ago as a 4-H
leader of the Fleetville Com
munity 4-H Club. As a leader, she
shared her skills with youth leach
ing them cooking sewing, and
other life skills.
Because of Naylor’s encour
agement and leadership, many
members in her club were actively

involved in the county program,
attending local, regional, and state
4-H events. As a result of her ef
forts, her members not only excel
led in their 4-H projects, but also
in leadership roles and activities.
Naylor lent her leadership drill*
honed as a 4-H leader to the exten
sion program by serving on the co
operative extension board since
1068. She quickly assumed lead
ership responsibilities by serving
as secretary of (he board from
1969-1971. In 1977, she served as

treasurer, then stepped into the
president’s role in 1978, serving
for six years.
Naylor has also served on the
family living extension advisory
board for the past 10 yean. She
served as chair of that committee
from 1987-1994. As a member of
the committee, Naylor has pro
vided input for the extension fami
ly living programs, as well as
helping to plan and conoduct the
annual Spring Fling.

The Juichak Extension Award
was established in honor of Tho
mas B. Juichak, retired Lacka
wanna County Cooperative Ex
tension director and agricultural
agent. Juichak made outstanding
contributions to Lackawanna
County’s agriculture, particularly
green-wrap tomatoes and milk
marketing. During his 38-year
career, he worked closely with
producers to incorporate findings
from research into practice.
