Oklahoma City, OK

USDA-OK Dept Ag Market News
Oklahoma National Stockyards - Week
ly Cattle Summary
Compared to last week: Feeder steers
and heifers 3.00-4.00 lower. Demand mod
erate for feeders. Stocker cattle and calves
firm with good good demand. Quality of
supply attractive to mainly average.
Weigh-ups gaunt to mostly average. Feed
er cattle in medium to moderate wheat
flesh. Stockers and calves medium to thin
fleshed. CME cattle futures were down
hard Monday and too many slaughter cattle
continue to plug the supply lines as winter
feeding weather has been superb. With the
aforementioned difficult news digested the
cash feeder cattle market managed to sta
bilize once prices neared hedgaMe levels
for the summer months. Slaughter cows
and bulls steady. Packer demand moderate.
Demand very good for cows returning to
the country. 1300 cows and bulls sold with
25 percent to packets. Special stock cow
sale accounted for 700 of the total.
Receipts this week 17,150; last week
8,834; last year 14,736. Supply consisted
of 77 percent yearlings over 600 lbs; 15
percent calves under 600 lbs; 8 percent
cows and bulls. Prices follow with weight
ed average weight and price in parenthesis.
