“We had thought for many years there really
wasn’t any difference between feed
companies. But, when we switched to
Master Mix Feeds in July of 1997 our herd
responded with an almost immediate 8 lb
milk increase during some of the hottest
weather. Our Rolling Herd Average has
increased by more than 2,500 lb milk in the
6 months we have been on the program,
and we feel this has come from the
improvement in the herd’s average peak
milk from 82.9 to 91.7!
The Skinner’s are a sixth generation farm family with the
seventh generation working its way up. They have 115
lactating cows plus young stock and farm approximately 350
acres. Corn Silage, haylage and hay are fed free choice with
high moisture shelled corn and their custom Prematek
