est for its proposal to learn more
about the conditions under which
eggs are produced.
In surveys distributed in Jan
uary, the Center is asking super
markets to respond to questions
about whether the eggs they sell
are produced under an egg quality
assurance program. They recog
nize the Pennsylvania Egg Quality
Assurance Program (PEQAP) as a
program which has been success
ful in “significantly reducing Sal
monella enteritidis (SE) con
tamination rates in participating
flocks.”

of the eggs in Pennsylvania are
produced under the standards of
the PEQAP program.
“We are proud of the accom
plishments of the program and of
our poultry industry’s commit
ment to excellence. The PEQAP
label assures consumers that the
eggs they are purchasing are pro
duced under the highest safety and
quality standards.”
Officially begun in May 1996,
PEQAP is a public-private part
nership between the Ridge Ad
ministration and the Pennsylvania
Poultry Federation.
