Organizations
HARRISBURG
(Dauphin Co.) The
highest bidder recently
received Pennsyl
vania’s Best Bushel of
Apples at the 1998 Farm
Show. This is the sec
ond year for this auction
of Pennsylvania’s finest
apples.
J. Omar Landis of
Ephrata, purchased the
1998 Best Bushel. The
final bid of $250 earned
Landis the best bushel
of apples submitted by
Hollabaugh Brothers,
Inc. of Biglerville. Pro
ceeds from the auction
will be donated to the
South Central Pennsyl
vania Food Bank.
Landis donated the
bushel for auctioning a
second time. This time,
the proceeds were to be
going to the Pennsylva
nia Auctioneer Associa
tion Youth Scholarship
Fund. By the end of the
auction, the bushel had
sold eight times, raising
$B6O for the two or
ganizations.
Hollabauth Brothers
Inc. is an operation
located in the heart of
the Adams County ap
ple industry. They grow
more than 500 acres of
apples, peaches, nectar
ines, plums, and pears.
In addition to the grow
ing of the fruit, Holla
baugh operates a Road
side market just north of
Biglerville.
