Prices were unchanged to lower for
whole egg. and generally unchanged for
other items. The market tone was cautious
ly steady to weak Demand was light to
instances fairly good, mostly light to fair.
Supplies were adequate; liquid and frozen
eggs (ingredients included) processed
under federal inspection in the Eastern reg
ion for the week ending January 24, 1998
were 10% less than the previous week, and
1% mote than the same week last year.
Raw material supplies were generally
adequate, and the undertone was cautious.

Movement of ready-to-coolc whole birds
was light to fair at best and was generally
noted as disappointing for the first of the
month. Seller offerings were adequate to
tight and in the closet balance on 3.5 and 4
pound sizes, live supplies were moderate;
weights were mostly desirable to light.
Processing schedules were moderate. Less
than truckle* asking prices were unchanged
at SO to 64 cents. Trade sentiment was
steady. In the parts complex, supplies were
generally adequate. Wings were in hea
viest supply and bone-in breasts were gen
erally noted as in best balance.
