Last year Ervin Hostetler, Belleville, PA fed FULL
TIME™ Forage and was pleased with the 9.5 lb. increase
in milk production he received. He compared Full Time™
Forage to 7301FQ as part of Cargill’s on farm feed trials.
This year he is even more convinced Full Time™ Forage is
the wave of the future for dairymen.
Currently, Ervin is getting 86.5 lbs. of milk and making
$9.00 income over feed costs/cow/day. His ration on an as
fee basis consists of:
75 lbs.
20 lbs.
12 lbs.
8.5 lbs.
1.25 lbs
.3 lbs.
But there is a lot more to his story. On November 17,
1997 his cows were milking 57 lbs. He was out of corn
silage and was getting ready to move to his new barn and
milking parlor on a different farm. After the move, the
cows dropped to 49 lbs. The cows were started out at 50
lbs. Full Time™ Forage and gradually moved to 75 lbs.
Full Time™ Forage. On December 24, the cows were
producing 72 Ibs/cow/day. On December 26 Ervin started
milking 3 times a day. One week later, they were at 86.5
Ibs./day.
