Show.
The Farm Show is the largest
Indoor agricultural exhibition in
the nation. It is held at the Farm
Show Complex in Harrisburg.
“ICing Cong” is a 5-year-old
Perchcron stallion owned by the
Abe Allebach family.
“King Cong” did not travel to
lone shows in 1997, but he was
the champion stallion at several
large draft hone shows in 1996.
“King Cong’s” she had been
the Premiere Percheron stallion in
North America for nine consecu
tive years.
Windermere Farms is a
300-acre hone farm. The Alle
bochs operated a dairy farm until
1986, but now the Cairn is limited
to horses and a team of oxen. This
is the 22nd year for the Allebach
family to be coming to the Farm
Show.
In order for a hone to compete
for the Supreme Champion honor,
tbc horse must be named a cham
pion within its individual breed.
One of the champions is then
named best horse. All of the best
of breed horses compete for the
supreme champion award.
Also competing for the Su
preme Champion award was' a
Clydesdale marc shown by Aileen
O’Connor from McMichaels,
Monroe County.
Liberty Knolls Hannah, a
7-year-old mate, won the best of
breed award for the Clydesdale
breed.

King Cong Is Farm Show Supreme Draft Horse
This was O’Connor’s first time
exhibiting at the Farm Show, and
she said that it has been a fun ex
perience.
This mare was shown at the
1997 Keystone International Live
stock Exhibition and was named
the reserve grand champion mare
and the reserve senior champion
Clydesdale.
Delmar Landis, Lititz, Lancas
ter County, is the owner of the
2-year-old Belgian stallion, “Del’s
Supreme Dallas,” that was named
best of the Belgian breed and com
peted for the Supreme Champion
honors.
“Dallas” was named junior

"Dallas” was reserve grand
champion at the 1997 Keystone
International Livestock Exhibition
and grand champion Belgian at
last year’s Farm Show.
Landis operates the 40-acre
DDL Farm, which focuses on
horses, but also raises other live
stock species such as steers, hogs,
and sheep. His horses are primari
ly used for showing and breeding.
This is the best Landis has ever
done in his 14 years of Farm Show
competition. He said that he could
have never done it without “lots of
help from friends.”
