Compared to last week: Feeder steers
heifers steady with last week’s full
decline, or 1.00-2.00 lower than last
week's open. Demand good for feeders.
Steer calves i.OO-3.% higher. Heifer
ctlves steady. Demand good for calves as
warm dry weather excellent for moving
calves. Quality plain to average and well
below last week. Feeder cattle in medium
fledi; calves in slightly thin to medium
flesh, few fleshy. Calf condition continues
attractive to buyers with moderate numbers
of weaned dried out calves available.
Weigh-ups gaunt to average. Slaughter
cows and bulls 2.00 higher. Packer demand
veiy good as availability of cows will be
limited for balance of the year as auctions
tike time off for holiday’s. 570 cows and
bulls sold with 60 percent to packers.
Receipts this week 8,200; last week 9,855;
lid year 11,424. Supply consisted of 51
percent yearlings and few calves over 600
lbs; 42 percent calves under 600 lbs; 7 per
cent cows and bulls. Prices follow with
weighted average weight and price in
puenthesis.
