Over the holidays we had lots of
family visit us. One night we had
nine sleeping here and the next
day we had 38 at a drop-in party.
The main attraction for the chil
dren was our four kittens and the
snowfall. They managed to make
a small snowman but the kittens
we re a constant attraction. They
liked to bring them in the house
for their dish of milk and kitten
chow. We may even have man
aged to give one away.
One of my sisters gave me a
very nice framed picture of my
mother when she was only five
years old. She is holding her fa
vorite doll and is wearing high
buttoned shoes. Another framed
photograph is of a family of four
who live in New Jersey.
We were given enough snack
food to last for several months. At
least, I hope that we can stretch it
out for a few weeks. This year my
husband got clothing instead of
me. My daughters gave gift certi-

Our daughter’s family from
Georgia had to drive home
through snow and ice. No wonder
they like to visit in the spring and
summer. But when they got home,
they had five inches oif snow too.
A second Habitat house has
been completed by our church
members and an Ethiopian family
has moved in. They spent 100
hours on other people’s homes
and another 400 hours on their
own. It was a two-year process for
them but they were able to move
in with their two children just be
fore Christinas. It took commit
ment to stick to the job of carrying
in cement blocks, hammering,
sanding, and painting. They are
happy to have a house of their
own.

History Of Pennsylvania Barn
The Lancaster County Department of Parks and Recrea
tion will present a program on the history of the Pennsylva
nia Bam on Jan. 25 at 1 p.m. The program will take place
Insdie an actual 19th century Pennsylvania barn, which is
used as the Lancaster County Environmental Center
(above) located along Eshelman Road.
At tight Is Bob Enslngmer, bam expert and speaker tor
the event. Enslngmer will explore the origins and evolution
of the Pennsylvania bam. He has researched and written
extensively on barns. The program will Include slides and
photographs. Also available that day will be autographed
copies of his book “The Pennsylvania Barn, It’s Orgln, Evo
lution, and Contribution In North America.’’
The program Is free; however, participants are asked to
