Food Market area. Some of the

snack foods, processed meats
and candies will be available for
sale and sampling. '

goods," said Agriculture
Secretary Samuel E. Hayes Jr.
"Pennsylvania's 2,300 food-pro
cessing companies play a vital
role in our economy. In recogni
tion of this, the Food Market has
been enlarged again this year,
adding six new companies.
"Gov. Tom Ridge is committed
to helping, the agriculture com
munity expand its domestic and
international markets. The Food
Market provides an excellent
opportunity for companies to
showcase their newest products
to the public.:

the West Lobby area of the Farm

Hilton Honored
For Advising Excellence
UNIVERSITY PARK (Centre
Co.) - James Hilton, associate
professor of agricultural engi
neering at Penn State, has
received the 1997 College of
Agricultural Sciences Alumni
Society Excellence in Academic
Advising Award.
, Hilton coordinates the
Agricultural Systems
Management (ASM) program
and advises between 40 and 50
undergraduate students each
year. He also advises the ASM
Club and is serving a second
term as adviser to the
Agricultural Student Council.
Hilton was nominated for
advising award by students in
tse ASM Club, with supporting
letters from faculty, administra
tors, students, and graduates.
Throughout my undergradu
ate career, his door has always
been open whenever I had a
question, whether about sched
ules or something else pertain
ing to college life," wrote one
student. "He makes a large uni
versity seem a lot smaller by

Hilton, who earned his bach
elor's and master's degrees in
agricultural education from
Penn State, joined the college
faculty in 1978. He earned a doc
torate in agricultural education
from lowa State University in
1979. In 1992, Hilton was
among 12 college faculty mem
bers to receive the Provost's
Award for Collaborative
Instruction and Curricular
Innovation for outstanding col
laborative teaching in AG 150,
Be a Master Student! In 1993,
students in the Department of
Agricultural and Biological
Engineering recognized his con
tributions with the Alpa Epsilon
Outstanding Faculty Award.
