Dear Friends of Agriculture:
I extend to you and your family a personal invitation to attend the
1998 Pennsylvania State Farm Show. January 10-15 in Harrisburg.
This unique show, the largest indoor agricultural exhibition in the
country, is enjoyable and educational for both exhibitors and visitors.
The Farm Show honors the men and women from the
Commonwealth’s 50.000 farms who provide essential food and fiber
to our neighbors around the world. It showcases their achievements
and affords them a wonderful opportunity to share their livelihood
with consumers on the other end of the food chain.
Thousands of beef cattle, dairy cattle, sheep, swine, horses, goats
and rabbits are m the limelight of competition and sales throughout
the Farm Show week. Three hundred commercial exhibitors feature
their newest innovations in farm equipment, services and products.
Daily entertainment is featured in the large and small arenas, with
rodeos, horse and pony pulling contests, draft horse hitched
competition, a folk dance festival and a sheep to shawl contest. A
variety of informative demonstrations and events are held throughout
the week in the Family Corner.
This year's show will highlight the progress the entire agricultural
industry has made during the past year, and will give us a look into
the future.
The Farm Show offers the opportunity to recognize and reward the
hard work and creativity of our farm families, and to highlight the
advances in technology which make our farmers and businesses the
most productive in the world. Please make plans to join us during
Farm Show Week.
With warm personal regards. I remain
Sincerely,
Samuel E. Hayes. Jr.
Secretary of Agriculture
