Prices were higher with yolks in the
strongest position. The market tone was
fully steady to firm. Demand was mixed
but frequently reported to have improved
and was moderate to good. Floor stocks
were tight to adequate with yolks the least
available, liquid and frozen eggs (ingre
dients included) processed under federal
inspection in the Eastern region for the
week ending October 25, 1997 were 1%
more than last week, and 6% less than the
same week last year. Raw material supplies
remained tight to adequate and prices were
higher.

Prices were 4 cents higher for extra large
through medium. The market tone was
firm. Demand was moderate to good, best
where featured. Many retail features were
noted ranging from 49 to 89 cents per
dozen for large eggs. Supplies were tight to
adequate and additional eggs were held
with confidence in anticipation of the
upcoming holiday season.
