Of course, this story is not often
repeated outside of the fraternity of
the Pennsylvania State Grange,
perhaps because it has no signifi
cance to non-Grangers except
that it reminds that what the indivi
dual does with his time on earth,
and in his actions toward and for
others, really does matter after all.
It matters mostly to those who
inherit the conditions that result
from the actions of those individu

The Collegiate Agriculture Leaders (CAL) Club at Alfred State College tied for first
place in the recent Alfred State College Homecoming Parade float competition. After
many hours of planning and designing their float entry under the direction of co
chairmen Gwen Harman, New Castle, a senior in the floriculture production program,
and Kevin Dougherty, Corry, a freshman in the animal science program, club mem-'
bers decided on “The Moon” as the right touch for the theme of “Pioneers... the Next
Frontier.” The float, pulled by a championship team of Belgian draft horses, owned
by Jim Emo of Bath, displayed a cow jumping over the moon, a cow riding a space
ship, several stars to add to the celestial atmosphere, flowers donated by the Alfred
State flower shop, and two large signs parroting the current übiquitious slogan with
a twist: “Got Milk... To Go.” The $4OO prize money will help fund a student trip to the
Royal Winter Agricultural Fair in Toronto, Canada, Nov. 14-16.
