ANSWER—A reader wants to know what variety of apples
are best for making apple butter. Mary Stover, Loganton,
writes that she uses applesauce for this easy to make apple
butter. Her family likes this much better than that cooked out
doors in a large kettle.
6 pounds sugar
18 cups applesauce
2 cups lemon juice or white vinegar
4 teaspoons cinnamon
2 teaspoons cloves
Mix ingredients together in roaster. Bake at 300 degrees.-"
Cook for three hours; stir every 30 minutes.

'A teaspoon cloves
Vi cup bread crumbs
% cup Coca-Cola
