The design and construction of
animal housing facilities has a
long-term impact on the health
and productivity of farmers’
flocks and herds, and on the
long-term profitability of their
farm businesses.
The Animal Housing Expo
affords livestock, dairy and
poultry producers an
opportunity to get ideas and
assistance in the design and
construction of animal housing
and handling facilities. They
can visit with commercial
exhibitors, talk to other
producers, observe a variety of
displays and demonstrations,
and hear what local and national
experts have to say on
numerous topics of interest.

Another project is donating used
postage stamps. Members donate
postage stamps clipped from enve
lopes. At the convention this year,
bags and boxes of all sizes were
stuffed with stamps that members
had donated. These are shipped to
the Brethren Home in New Oxford
where clients sort the stamps and
sell to stamp collectors.
“I’ve been told the Brethren
Home has been able to buy
$16,000 worth of equipment since
the postage stamp project was
started,” Becky said. She was
uncertain how many years this
took.
Becky learned to sew, knit, and
do needlework when she “was a
kid.”
