rolling herd average of more
than 25,000 pounds of milk.
They also have 50 head of
replacements.
The Wolfe family practices
good herd management by
keeping the cows comfortable
with tunnel ventilation and
rubber mats on the stalls. But
Purina’s Maxi-Tech EXT still
gets the credit for the large
increase in production over the
last several years.
Since the new high protein
Maxi-Tech EXT feed has been
introduced to the herd, DHIA
records show the production
levels going up from 19,000
pounds just two years ago.
Individual records go up to
40,000 pounds of milk per
lactation and 159 pound’s of
milk per day. This summer, a
large group of first calf heifers
came fresh and 80 percent of
them milked more than 100
pounds of milk per day.
