Oklahoma National Stockyards
Weekly Cattle Summary
Compared to last week: Feeder steers
steady to 3.00 lower, least decline on
700-800 ibs. Feeder heifers 2.00-3.00 low
er. Steer calves 3.00-6.00 lower. Heifer
calves 2.00-5.00 lower. Demand moderate
for steers, light for heifers and all calves.
Quality of supply plain, few average to
attractive. Weigh-ups full to mostly aver
age. Calves in moderate to fleshy condi
tion. Calf market in usual October dol
drums as turnout to wheat/rye pastures a
month away and calves in need of condi
tioning prior to turnout. Feeder cattle in
medium flesh. Large placements in August
and September left little space in feedlots.
A sluggish beef market has kept packer
interest minimal creating slow movement
out of feedlots the last couple of weeks.
Slaughter cows steady to 1.00 higher.
Slaughter bulls steady. Packer demand
moderate. Country cow buyers remain
aggressive on thin cows for feedlots and
stalks. Total of 650 cows and bulls sold
with 65 percent going to packers. Receipts
this week 10,350; last week 10,321; last
year 12,152. Supply consisted of 55 per
cent yearlings and few calves over 600 Ibs,
38 percent calves under 600 Ibs; 7 percent
cows and bulls. Prices follow with weight
ed average weight and price in parenthesis.
