How many women in the U.S. have died of breast cancer in this century? More than all the U.S. citizens killed in the com bined conflicts of World War I, World War 11, Korea, Vietnam and the Persion Gulf. Fortunately, early detection through breast self-exams, clinical exams, and mammograms can increase a woman’s chance of surviving breast cancer. Unfor tunately, not enough women practice these three important steps to breast health and cancer deaths con tinue to occur. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Across the nation, family mem bers, community groups and cancer eol ations are gearing up to remind us that through self aware ness, capable medical care and family sup port, a woman’s chance of surviving breast cancer is very good. In Pennsylvania and New York, cancer coalitions involved in the Northern Appala chia Leadership Initia tive on Cancer (NAL IC) will raise aware ness by wrapping 30,000 yards of pink ribbon around the trees in their commun ities. “While these rib bons remind us of sur vival and hope, they also remind us of the losses of our friends, family, and loved ones to this unfortunate dis ease,” said Ann Ward, project manager of NALIC. Cancer awareness, education, and early detection efforts of programs like NALIC are only part of the solution. “The pink ribbons also will serve as a reminder that more resources for treatment are needed now to treat women who are uninsured when their cancers are found,” said Ward. “And sup port is needed within our own communities to let women know that if they lose a breast to this dis ease, they will not lose the love of Deline Maebine Storage Facility Raised Chord Wrtti New 4/12 Pitch 54x14x90' • 1 -24’x 15’6” AlumaSleel* double-end door. • l-22’6”xl4'AlumaSleel*double-side door • l-3'x6’B" insulated walkdoor with 9-lile glass • 2-4'x.V insulated sliding glass 9-hte windows with shutters • 2-V6"x3'6” cupolas • 8-roof skylights • T wide endwall overhangs • I' wide vented sidewall overhangs with continuously vented ridge • Hi-nb steel roof panels coated with FLUOROFLEX 2000' • lli-nb steel sidewall and wainscot panels coaled with KYNAR 500VHYLAR 5000' • 50-year snowload warranty, no weight limit • 50 year warranty on laminated columns and treated lumber • 20-ycar paint warranty, including red rust • 10 year wind warranty on doors no velocity limit • 5 year wind warranty on building no velocity limn • 5 year warranty against roof leakage • Morton heavy gauge aluminum gutters and downspouts • Free Morton weather vanes * (>riir mw I'upjfr mu in m ulltnravK TnunJjn *Mnn Jjiuan MIW jml tmn\f vile itad\ irbalf All uirrjniifvimlmJc maitniKand l»kf am) 3ff m* fm*atfd Spftialpmmg includes Mw< mjirmK Mntv, wiping amilah>*M wmrnt plan Tk ahmt pmev mav \vy kciuvnf local (willing f"*' The** pncc\ on« irKlude cniKfrlf doc in loiii pmr vjrnir hu OfTunpirn [V emhr MIW hirdilurrs jfur [Xicmh»r IIW uuwruiiiro after IWmho A| IW amt pnor in Mj) M IWK Site musl k prepared ami apprised hv >mjrkal Monro Buildings salts irosuhinl Manual) M IWR Prn.fi.nm sai) (ni tverv I u)ftfhiov«hnmrfclolrlrviiHiii K'iWR WTinkrrurl of Flf Anikin NAihl AK MXID* Trademark i f Auvimroi I'SA FLUOROFI FX aw* and AlunuStcd*Tiatkmari^of Morton Buildings Inc GETTYSBURG, PA - 717-624-3331 » PHILLIPSBURG, N.JL - 908-454-7900 their families, their inherent beau ty, their position in their job, or their health care coverage.” Lastly, more research funding is needed from federal and private organizations to determine the cause and best treatment of breast cancer. “October is a time to concen trate our year-long efforts in publi cizing the need for greater vigi lance on the part of women for their own health care,” said Cam Armstrong, NALIC field coordi nator. “Anyone can leant early detection skills. Our coalitions work with the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s Healthy Woman 50+ program and New York’s ‘Breast Health Partner ships’ to provide education and free mammograms for women that fall within their income guidelines. “Additionally, anyone can call the Cancer Information Service of the National Cancer Institute at 800-4-CANCER for information 800-447-7436 /IL/ fj.u Tn f llly.fn Idny L/ f y MORTON y / yh^ .
