BLOOMSBURG (Columbia
Co.) Agricultural exhibits at
the 143rd Bloomsburg Fair held
recently increased by four percent
over last year in spite of avian flu,
summer drought, and adverse eco
nomic conditions for farmers.
New features at this year’s fair
included having 4-H clubs ’‘leas
ing’* animals to urban kids for
livestock shows. Spam and Pills
bury recipe contests, and a dress
up livestock fun night.

Bloomsburg Fair Boasts Increase In Exhibitors

At the Eastern Central District
Holstein Show on Sept 24, Judge
Norman Hill of Woodbine, Md.,
chose Pen-Col Leadman Dewdrop
as grand champion as well as best
udder of show. Nicholas Wolff of
Millville exhibited this first place
S-year-old. The reserve champion
was C Walavue Flora Broker, a
4-year-old shown by John Rishel
of Mifflinburg. There were 61
exhibitors in the competition.
Junior champion honors went to
Robert Bronson’s Rob-Run Char
les Betsy, the first place senior
yearling heifer, while reserve
junior champion was Wynding-
Brook Dstar Larane, shown by
Cliffor Levan of Milton. Bronson
is a veteran showman at the fair,
from Bloomsburg.
