Sale Raises More Than $30,000
LAURELTON (Union Co.)
The 19th Annual Union County
4-H and FFA Junior Livestock
Sale was held at the West End
Fairgrounds in Laurclton Aug. 8.
Forty-four Union County youth
participated in this year’s sale.
Grand champion market swine, owned by Minda Byerly.
Buyer Is Dennis Keefer, West Milton State Bank, Mifflfn
burg.

year’s champion was purchased
by the West Milton State Bank of
Mifflinburg for a record of $22 a
pound. Max DeHart placed the
final bid for the 113-pound
champion. Hie lamb was raised by
Heather Aeppli of New Columbia.
Heather is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Forrest Aeppli.
The reserve champion market
lamb was purchased by Robert
Valentine for the Mifflinburg
Bank & Trust Company. The
101-pound reserve champion
lamb was raised by Michael Byer
ly of West Milton. Mike is the son
of Jeffrey and Rhoda Byerly.
This year’s grand champion
market steer was purchased by
Chris Klotz and Donna Snyder for
Hoss’s Steak & Sea House. A bid
of $2.50 a pound was received for
the 1,305-pound Angus steer,
owned by Jeremy Wolfe of New
Columbia. Jeremy is the son of
Dennis and Anna Wolfe of Lewis
burg.
The reserve champion market
steer was purchased by Dan Keef
er for Country Cupboard in
Lewisburg for $2.50 a pound. The
1,300-pound Angus crossbred
steer was owned by Adam Wolfe.
Adam is the son of Dennis and
Anna Wolfe of Lewisburg.
The grand champion market
hog was owned by Minda Byerly
of New Columbia. The 242-pound
Duroc hog was purchased by Max
DeHart and Dennis Keefer for the
West Milton State Bank in Mif
flinburg for $3 a pound. The re
serve champion hog was owned
by Jessica Byerly of West Milton.
