A 3-year-old Red and White owned by Holly Morse of Everett took the supreme champion title at the open class dairy show of the Bed ford County Fair. Reserve supreme was a junior 2-year-old Holstein owned by Russell Wyles, RR 1, Roaring Spring. A senior at Everett High School who also takes horticulture and AG at Northern Bedford, Holly is the daughter of Ronnie and Pam Morse. The Morse family has a herd of 36 dairy cows, about 'A Red and Whites. “At last, it’s history,” said Hol ly. “A Red and White took the supreme champion title at the Bedford Fair.” Holly who did well in both the junior and open dairy shows with her Red and Whites and Holsteins also took the showmanship trophy with the same supreme cow. “I had my picture in the daily paper every day with the same cow,” she said. Agway presented Holly with a check for $3OO and she also re ceived a floral arrangement for the honor. Wyles received a check for $2OO from Agway. Milk Cooperative Returns 70% Dividends In Cash To Members RESTON, Va.—Maryland and Virginia Milk Producers Coopera tive Association, Inc. will be dis tributing $4,530,077 to its mem bers today, or 24 cents per hun dredweight for milk shipped during 1996. This distrubtion rep resents both divisional earnings from internal operations and spe cial allocations received from other cooperatives. Based on the cooperative’s 1996 divisional earnings, Maryland and Virginia will return 70 percent of each members cooperative investment in cash. Special allocations are determined by the cooperative from which they are received. The total cash distribution is 15.6 cents per hundredweight, which includes both divisional earnings and special allocations. Normally mailed on September 1, the dividend check will be mail ed ten days early this year, on Fri day, August 22, in an effort to ease the financial struggles of dairy far mers. The remaining 30 percent, or 8.5 cents per hundredweight in 1996, has been issued in certifi cates held in the cooperative’s revolving fund.
