Grange Selects Ambassadors
HOWARD (Centre Co.) No
matter where you go or who you
are, you are always brought back
to your pals through the ‘Magic of
Friendship.’
The theme for the ’97 Youth
Camp, held at Camp Sylvan Hills
in Centre' County, lived up to its
name as nearly 60 Grange Youth
members reunited for a weekend
of fun, fellowship, and discussion
about Grange work.
A camp highlight is the annual
crowning of the new male and
female Youth Ambassadors. The
1997-98 Youth Ambassadors are
Amy Irion of Mercer County and
Mike Tau of Crawford County,
who replace Jennifer Campbell
and Brian Ebersole, the 1996-97
Youth Ambassadors.
Irion, 18. is a relative “new
comer” to the Grange, having only
been a Granger for three years.
Here enthusiasm and love for the
Grange, however, makes it seem

a huge privilege to be named a
Youth Ambassador.
“I’ve seen a lot of enthusiasm in
other youth members and I use
them as role models,” Irion, the
daughter of Robert and Nancy
Irion, said.
Irion, who will attend Thiel
College in Greenville this fall to
study respiratory care, said she
would like to be a State Grange
officer after she graduates from
college.
“I want to be involved in the
Grange as much as I can,” Irion
said. “I feel like I’ve done a lot
already, but I want to be involved
in the Grange asmuch as I can and
bring new ideas to the Grange.”
Tau, the 18-year-old son of
Chester and Michele Tau. is a
member of Hayfleld Grange #BOO,
where he is the Youth Chairman.

people, tell others about the
Grange and, hopefully,- get new
members to join,” Tau said. “The
future of the Grange looks good
because people are getting
involved and there is something
for everyone in the Grange.”
Tau will attend Pittsburgh
Technical Institute and study com
puter drafting and design. Tau said
he would like to advance his edu
