nistrative functions of the depart
ment She will provide program
leadership for the state’s seven ag
regional offices, and will be
responsible for the Bureau of Ani
mal Diagnostic Services which
includes the department’s testing
laboratories.
Parker will replace Walter
Peechatka, who is retiring.
Parker is well known in the local
ag community for her programs
with 1604-Hclubs. She has trained
more than 500 adult volunteers and
serves more than 5,000 youths. She
has also developed an embryology
science program taught in all of the
county’s school districts.
In addition to her work with
youths, she was a resource for the
live market poultry industry in a
three-state region and the rattite
specialist for the northeast region,
helping to diagnose problems and
teach marketing skills.
Hayes sees this experience as an
asset as the department works to
contain the recent avian influenza
outbreak.
Parker will begin her new job
effective July 14.
