surgically created hole about four
inches around to allow direct
inspection of the cow’s rumen. Dr.
Card is doing ongoing research on
the dynamics of how feeds are
broken down by the cow’s diges
tive system.

D.C. on July 15 to
observe National Dairy
Farmers Awareness
Day, according to
Arden Tewksberry,
manager of Progressive
Agriculture
Organization.
The event is to be
sponsored by several
organizations including
the National Family
Farm Coalition, Nation-
al Farmers Organiza
tion, and Pro Ag.
According to Tewks
bury, people represent
ing the groups are to
meet at the Methodist
Building in Washington
and then go to the Capi
tol Building for a rally.
From the Capitol Build
ing they are to march to
the USDA building,
possibly the White
House.
The group is promot
ing several policies.
They want Congress to
pass SB-604; to raise the
Class I differentials in
all federal milk market
ing orders by $3 per cwt.
