JOSEPH, MO MAY 14, 1997 Grain and soybean bids finished lower, today, due to belter than expected winter wheat crop and good progress made in spring planting. Wheat 2 to 7 cents lower. Com steady to 2 cents lower. Sorghum 2 cents lower. Soybeans 7 to 11 cents lower. Less damage than expected for hard red winter wheat has been reported. However, harvest will be the final prognosis. Spring wheat planting it going well at this lime and seme rain it forecast next week in the dry areas. Com bids were pressured by active planting, profit taking on the board, and lade of export sales this week. Traders believe we might have a large crop this year with all the planting being reported. Soybean planting has begun and it alio going well. Favorable weather in the Mid west this week hat been a blessing to far mers. Export demand has been nil for beans this week, also adding weakness to bids. Lower meal demand was a declining factor in beans bids.
