Corn planting was a popular activity this week as the days suitable for field work increased. The
Pennsylvania Agricultural Statistics Service reported corn planting continued ahead of the five
year average. Cool weather and the lack of soli moisture has hindered the growth of hay and small
grains. Some farmers cut ryelage last week and fruit and vegetable growers continue to assess fruit
trees for frost damage. Most of the fruit crop Is now in full bloom. In the photo, the Amish farmer pro
