Spring has sprung in Pennsylvania
and tbit means it’s time for Pen
nsylvania Jersey breeders to head
to Schuylkill County for the 1997
Pennsylvania Jersey Convention.
Scheduled for Friday, April 18
and Saturday, April 19, at the Riv
er Inn in Pottsville, die annual
gathering will allow young and
old to share their experiences with
Jerseys, watch as a new Jersey
Queen in crowned, applaud for
many award recipients and bid on
one of many top notch consign
ments for die annual spring sale.
The festivities lock off at 6:00
Friday night with a social hour fol
lowed by the youth awards ban
quet Dining the evening program,
Pennsylvania will crown a new
queen and will distribute youth
achievement awards, production
awards and scholarships.
While at the banquet Jersey
enthusiasts will feast on a choice
of Roast Turkey with dressing or
Ham Hawaiian. Both meals are
$l2 per person (children under 10,
$6 each).
On Saturday morning at 8:00,
breakfast will be saved at the
hotel at a cost of $6 per person.
After the breakfast, the 1997
annual meeting will convene with
president Don Stonerook at the
helm.
Hie featured speaker for the
morning program is Calvin
Covington, executive secretary of
the American Jersey Cattle Asso
cation, who will speak on milk
pricing.
The Distinguished Service
award will also be presented at
this time to Jersey breeders who
have dedicated much of their lives

Meadowview Farm, Pine Grove,
PA, the Pennsylvania Spring
