The Pennsylvania Deportment of Agriculture assures interested
persons and organizations that the swine herd of Keith Loy, Pine
Grove, Schulldll County, is a Qualified Pseudorabies Negative
herd.
A quarantine has been removed and this herd is no longer under
any regulatory restraint. The quarantine was imposed as a result of a
laboratory error due to incomplete marking of specimens.
Anyone wishing further information regarding the Psuedorabies
test status of this herd may call the Department at (717) 783-8300.

Administrator Rex F. Lothrop
today announced a February 1997
weighted average milk price of
$13.22.
The weighted average differen
tial price was 72 cents per hun
dredweight and the producer non
fat milk solids price was 99 cents
per pound. The weighted average
price was unchanged from Janu
ary but was 65 cents lower than a
year earlier.
The producer NFMS price was
down 19 cents from last February.
The nonfat milk solids price, appl
icable to handler payments, was
99.57 cents per pound for the
month, down 18.73 cents from last
year. The gross value of February
producer milk, adjusted to 3.5 per
cent butterfat was $69.8 million,
compared to $67.1 million a year
ago.
Mr. Lothrop said that producer
receipts totaled 531.0 million
pounds during February, an
increase of 43. S million pounds
from last February and the aver
age daily delivery of 3,600 pounds

month, an increase of 561 from a
year ago.
Class I producer milk totaled
235.4 million pounds and was up
16.3 million pounds, or 11.3 per
cent from last February on an
average daily basis. Class I milk
accounted f0r44.33 percent of tot
al producer milk receipts during
the month, compared with 44.94
percent in February 1996.
The average NFMS test of pro
ducer milk was 8.72 percent,
down from 8.76 percent the previ
ous year. The average butterfat
test of producer milk was 3.71
percent, down from 3.82 percent
in February 1996.

milk sales of 191.3 million pounds
during February, an increase of
6.1 percent from a year earlier,
after adjustment to eliminate var
iation due to calendar
composition.
