Togetherness is an operative word
of three high-spirited Livengood
siblings who have been itching for
the state Farm Show dates to ar
rive.

tend the blizzard-ridden, 1996
event
Angela, 18, Erin, 16 and David,
13, children of David and Rose
Livengood, say state shows are
exciting and the competition keen.
« Usually, they stay three nights
and four days, participating in a
variety of events.
Give her any animal and An
gela is happy.
“I like to be around animals and
to work with them,” she said. Tm
planning to become a veterinar
ian.”
With 10 years of experience
showing, she’s taking a Chi Maine
Angus steer and a Suffolk lamb to
the event It will be her second ex
perience appearing in Farm Show
competition.
Hers was the Somerset County
grand champion steer in 1995; the
reserve champion Somerset Coun
ty bred steer in 1993 and, in 1994,
the reserve champion home grown
lamb.
Erin met the previous owners of
her registered purebred Shorthorn
steer at the local jackpot show.
Swinging a deal with them a
family from the state of Indiana —
to purchase the fellow, seemed a
smart move.
After he nailed the reserve mid
dleweight champion title at the

1996 Keystone International Live
stock Exposition (K.I.LJE.). Erin,
a Farm Show first-timer. had no
regrets.
With the Shorthorn, she was
also named the county exhibitor at
the 1996 Somerset County Beef
Jackpot Show.
In 1994 she had the grand
champion steer at Somerset Coun
ty Fair and the county bred cham
pion. Hers was named the reserve
champion county bred steer in
1995.
Market lamb competition in
1991 found her lamb winning a re
serve grand champion banner. At
the Farm Show she is also show
ing a lamb.
David is to be gussied up and
swingin’ his partner in his favorite
square dancing.
A 1996 junior master showman
at the Somerset County Fair, he
and some three busloads of square
dancers from Somerset will prom
enade in the show arena.
“You miss a day of school,” he
replied, when asked why he has
square danced for the last five
years.
Perhaps when she hears that her
pupil correctly executed every
“number” called by the caller, it
will make his absenteeism easier
for his math teacher to accept.
The active Steaks and Chops
4-H Club members have varying
affection for animals. Give David,'
however, sports any day of the
week, not critters except steers.
“I don’t like lambs because they
are too small,” he remarked. “So I
play sports more than take care of
animals,” the all-star little league
