The milk urea a.m. and the milk urea p.m. represents sam ples taken on sample day and analyzed for urea concentration. Mean value for blood urea, milk urea a.m., milk urea p.m., and DHIA milk urea were very similar. Blood levels were 91% of the DHIA milk urea concentration (SE=.Ol4). The milk urea a.m. was lower than the milk urea p.m. by about 2 mg/dl (.856xMUN p.m.) (SE=.OO9). We would expect the milk urea in the afternoon to be higher than the morning due to the fact that we feed at 11 a.m. The average of the a.m. and the p.m. milk MUN is 13.1; very close to the average of DHIA milk urea of 12.9. Standard deviations are very similar for the different tests. The DHIA MUN has the highest SD 2.9 compared to 2.4,2. S and to 2.9 from milk a.m. and p.m. samples and blood tests from the clinical laboratory. The range in urea values is similar across the different tests, but note the low of 2.3 for the DHIA MUN test and the high of 23.0. The range of the DHIA MUN is wider than the clincial lab’s values.
