Compared to Ult week: Steer calves
2 00-4.00 higher, heifer calves steady to
3.00 higher. Feeder steers and heifers
steady to 1.00 higher. Demand vety good
for all elutes. Quality of supply average.
Bulk supply calves with true yearlings
rather scarce. Receipts curtailed by wet
weekend weather and muddy conditions
statewide. Feeder heifer buyers have
become very cautious on heifers that do not
have a youthfull appearance. Slaughter
cows 1.00-3.00 lower. Demand rather light
with several major players out of the mark
et at this level. Slaughter bulls steady.
Demand fair. 7SO cows and bolls add with
75 percent to packers. Receipt! this week
5,550; last week 4,850; last year 14,188.
Supply consisted of 29 percent yearlings
and calves over 600 lbs; 57 percent calves
under 600 lbs; 14 percent cows and bulls.
