Co.) The 13th annual Nittany
Lion Pall Classic Sale, held
November 16th at the Penn State
Ag Arena, had a new twist the
sale of a “Calf for a Cause.”
Duane and Marilyn Hershey,
along with Brad and Sandy Her
shey, all from Cochranville,
donated a December 1995 Celsius
heifer calf for the sale for the ben
efit of the Four Diamonds Fund.
This fund helps families with
children being treated for cancer
at the Hershey Medical Centra-,
including Duane and Marilyn Her
shey, whose son Robert has been
one of these children for the last
two years.
The calf was sold three times: a
syndicate bought it for $3,200, the
Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority and
Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity bought
it for $2,100, and the final sale
went to Fred Strouse, Mike Wcim
er and Harry Bachman for $2,000,
bringing the total proceeds to
$7,310.
Duane and Marilyn Hershey and their son Robert con
signed this “Calf for a Cause” to raise money for the Four
Diamonds fund, which helps families such as theirs with
children being treated for cancer at the Hershey Medical
Center. The calf sold three times for a total of $7,310.

Nittany Lion Fall Classic Averages $1,470

Sale, donating half the proceeds to
the Four Diamonds Fund.
Overall the sale totalled
$117,625 on 80 head for an aver
age of $1,470 per lot For the
Holsteins the total gross was
$99,825, which was an average of
$1,513 on 66 head. The 14 head of
Jerseys sold fra a total of $17,800,
which was $1,271 per lot.
The top seller was Josan SB
Feather, a springing Starbuck
Holstein heifer bred to Hilltop
Hanovra-B Drew. Her dam is an
EX-92 Trademark daughter with a
high record of 27.370 M 3.9%F
2.9%P. Consigned by Joseph
Pavelski of Susquehanna, she sold
for $2,350 to Mike Weimer, G.
Knight, B. Hostetler, and Fred
Strouse of Emlenton.
Dr. Laurie Joseph of Acme
bought the second highest seller
from Daniel and Laura Chard for
$2,300. A Marksman daughter
with a PTPI 0f+1279, Terra-Rose
Marksman Kay is a Holstein year
ling out of a VG-8S Cleitus dam
