A summary presented at the 1992 Florida “Large Herd
Management Conference” by Dr. David Mertens of the U.S.
Forage Lab gave the following results:

Movement of ready-to-cook whole birds
was moderate to good. Seller offerings
ranged adequate to short Live supplies
were mostly moderate; weights were in a
full range of light to heavy. Processing
schedules were moderate. Less than truck
lot asking prices were 1 cent higher at 57 to
71 cents. Trade sentiment was fully steady
to instances firm. In the parts complex,
breast items were in balance to closely
cleared. Leg quarters were adequate to ful
ly adequate at most locations. Wings were
adequate to short.

WHY IS SUPER FLAKED CORN BETTER?
Flat rolled steam flaking disrupts the cellular structure of the corn kernels (gelatinization) and increases sites for
microbial attachments resulting in improved starch (carbohydrate) digestion in the rumen. In simple terms, the cow uses

Offerings for this week's slaughter needs
were short of requirements with most oper
ations on reduced schedules. Demand was
seasonally good as both retail and further
processed sales cleared inventories all at
levels. Undertone fully steady to film.
