STATE COLLEGE (Centre
Co.) Bob Akers, a long-time
technician and truly a friend to the
entire dairy industry, died Oct. 14,
following a brief illness.
Bob was known years ago as the
“check-tester” for Pa.DHIA. Dur
ing the last several years, he was
used to fill in for vacations and ill
nesses as well as conducting verifi
cation tests around the state of
Pennsylvania.
Having served Pa.DHIA for 40
years, Bob was recently awarded
an engraved statue of the Penn
State Nittany Lion.
Our prayers and condolences go
out to the family of Bob Akers.
Words are so inadequate at a time
of sorrow, but comfort comes in
the knowledge that others share the
grief. Bob touched the hearts of
many and will be missed by all.
