Agriculture Secretary Charles
C. Broshis recently announced the
dates for eight graded feeder cattle
sales to be held around the Com
monwealth during October 1996.
“Many beef cattle producers
only market their calves once a
year,” Brosius said. “We can help
local fanners by letting other pro
ducers know when graded feeder
cattle sales ate scheduled in their
particular areas.”

Pennsylvania’s 4-H team took
first place in the Junior Livestock
Judging Contest held as part of the
40th annual Keystone Internation
al Livestock Exposition, Oct 2-7
at the Farm Show Complex,
Harrisburg.
Ohio State University won the
collegiate judging contest and
Ohio 4-H was second in the 4-H
event
Nine teens competed in the 4-H
contest and 11 competed in the
collegiate contest
Pennsylvania’s winning team
was from York County, and
included Adam Sellers, Matt
Trostle, Heather Jasienski, and
Shanna Dougherty. The coach
was John Eaton Jr. The Pennsyl
vania team was second in beef and
swine, and fifth in sheep. Sellers
was overall high individual,
Trostle was filth, Jasienski was
12th, and Daugherty was 13th.
Trestle was first in overall rea
sons scores in the youth contest;
Sellers was second. Sellers was
high individual in swine and sec
ond high in beef.
Ohio’s 4-H team was first in
swine, second in sheep and third
in beef. Kristi Kress from the 4-H
team was second high individual
overall, and was third in reasons.
Other top teams in 4-H were: 3.

uniform lots according to grade,
weight, sex and breed. Some sales
do not accept dairy cattle, cattle
with horns or bulls.

Sale date and time - Wednesday,
Oct 16, 10:30 a.m. Cattle will be
received Oct 15 between 7 ajn.

Indiana’s FFA team was first in
sheep, and they had* the third high
individual, Chris Holliday. India

The Ohio State won first place
in swine, second place in sheep
and third in beef. They were sec
ond overall in reasons.
Tom Ostgaard of the team was
first in swine, third overall in rea
sons, fifth in sheep and 10th over
all individual. Keven Isler of Ohio
State was ninth high individual.
Other winning team members
are: Jamie Bond, Chad Neer, Jus
tin Lahmers, Ivan Belleville, and
Mary Jane Hoskinson. Coach is
Dr. Tom Turner.
Overall high individual in the
contest was Amanda Sink of Vir
ginia Tech University. Second
high was Leslie Cline, Delaware
Valley College, who was high
individual in reasons.
The team from the University
of Illinois was first in reasons.
Kyle McMillian was second high
individual in reasons and Dan
Hamilton was fourth high indivi
dual in reasons, fifth overall.
